Acute and Chronic Pain

Acupuncture is extremely effective for many patients in relieving physical pain. It can help with relief of the spine and musculoskeletal system and help improve quality of life. Conditions that affect that system, from back and neck pain to sports injuries to headaches, fall within their scope.

Acute and Chronic Pain

The treatments are held in a quiet space with some soothing music while needles treat pain by speeding up the healing process, and triggering the release of endorphins to provide immediate pain relief. With the help of acupuncture treatment, you will notice more energy, wellness, and rehabilitation.

Acupuncture is a good treatment option for acute and chronic pain including:

  • Knee pain
  • Neck and shoulders pain
  • Headaches
  • Menstrual cramps and endometriosis pain
  • Lower back pain
  • Muscle injuries

What is Acupuncture?

Extremely fine acupuncture needles are inserted into powerful acupuncture points on your body and face to stimulate and balance energy (Qi) flow depending on your constitution. All acupuncture energy lines called meridians begin or end on the face and therefore any imbalance within your internal energy system can have an effect on your facial appearance. Needles are inserted into your arms, legs, trunk, and face using gentle pain-free techniques to ensure you have the most comfortable acupuncture experience. Many people feel deeply relaxed during an acupuncture treatment due to the effect acupuncture has on the hormonal system and therefore increasing relaxing hormones such as serotonin.

What will your initial Acupuncture treatment involve?

Your initial acupuncture treatment will be an extended 1 ½ hour treatment where your overall health will be examined to find imbalances in your yin and yang energy systems followed by a comprehensive acupuncture treatment. You will be asked questions about all aspects of your health and your tongue and pulse will be observed for a Chinese medicine diagnosis to be established. Acupuncture needles will be inserted into body acupuncture points to rebalance your energy followed by local facial acupuncture points to focus on your area of concern. After the acupuncture needles are removed and disposed of, dermal techniques are used such as gua sha (Chinese spooning), jade roller and massage which have an action of invigorating blood flow to the area. It’s recommended that you relax after your treatment, so organize times where you can take it easy and enjoy your feeling of balance for the rest of the day.

How many Acupuncture treatments will you need?

The best results are achieved over a course of 12 acupuncture treatments once or twice per week. After the initial treatment, you will notice healthy improvement, however by the seventh treatment, the results will be obvious and longer lasting.
